Dipak Limbu declared Nepali Tara

The most awaited moment of Nepali music history ended with the announcement of the winner of Samsung Nepali Tara singing contest on Saturday.

Twenty-three years old Dipak Limbu from Sunsari was declared Nepali Tara who was awarded with the Samsung Nepali Tara trophy along with other prizes offered by various commercial organizations. Prizes include trips to Singapore and Malaysia, a Bajaj Discover motorbike and ATM Debit Card worth Rs 51,000.

Senior musician and jury member Deepak Jangam handed over the trophy to the winner. The decision was taken on the basis of judges’ points and the audience poll, organisers said.

Likewise, first runner-up Dharmendra Sewan was awarded with a trip to Malaysia.

Dipak will be performing jointly with Indian Idol Abhjeet Sawant at the Birendra International Convention Center (BICC) Sunday.

Samsung Nepali Tara, modeled after the mega hit Indian Idol, (Indian version of American Idol) was launched a few months ago in which tens of thousands of singing talents around the country had participated.
