CJ expresses dissatisfaction over NBA

Chief Justice (CJ) Dilip Kumar Poudel has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of Nepal Bar Association.

Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon return home from an international conference on judicial reforms at Manila, the Chief Justice said the image of the judiciary cannot improve if the organization, which was supposed to be committed to the court, start to be offensive against the court.

Referring to negative comments evoked by the Bar Association and some legal practitioners about the apex court’s decree a few days back, CJ Poudel said everyone should respect the decision of the court.

Nepal Bar Association announced protest programme against the SC ruling in the controversial media ordinance.

On the Manila conference, the CJ said the conference dwelled on judicial systems, infrastructures of the court, use of information technology, the policy of reconciliation and mobile courts, inter alias.

Chief Justices of 45 countries had participated in the conference.

Following the conference, the CJ had visited Singapore and Thailand and enquired about judicial system there.
