Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Surya Nath Upadhaya has written a letter to Prime Minister Chand relating to the allowance of CIAA employees demanding incentives equivalent to fifty per cent of the pay that they have been drawing, the Rajdhani daily reported quoting high level sources.
According to highly placed CIAA sources, Upadhaya wrote a letter to Chand asking him to raise the allowance of the employees. The request letter forwarded this week has been put under consideration at the cabinet.
The government nearly two years back had scrapped the allowances given to the civil servants. Upadhyaya has mentioned in the letter the CIAA is working under new circumstances. The employees are overburdened with work and are having to work even on holidays. Hence it is necessary that the government looks into the demand of the employees to give an allowance which is fifty per cent of their salaries.
The CIAA has been working under pressure after it was empowered through the passage of the new law. It has been probing a large number of corruption cases related with politicians and civil servants in the recent months.
