The Supreme Court on Sunday referred the habeas corpus case filed on behalf of former prime minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and former minister Prakash Man Singh, to the special bench of the apex court.
Two lawyers including advocate Arjun Karki had filed habeas corpus petitions at the apex court demanding immediate release of Deuba and Singh arguing that they are being detained illegally.
Deuba and Singh are under detention for the last five months as per the order of the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) on charges of corruption.
Both of them deny charges leveled against them and have filed separate appeal challenging the Commission’s constitutional and legal status.
