British firm agrees to re-print five rupee notes

The Du La Rue, a British security press, which drew a lot of flak for printing sub standard Nepali five rupee notes agreed Monday to reprint the notes without charging extra.

An agreement was signed between Du La Rue representative and representative of the Nepal Rastra Bank for the reprinting of the five rupee notes. As per the agreement the company will deliver the notes within 180 days. It is learnt that the British company will have to bear an additional cost of one million pound for reprinting the notes, which are likely to have some changes in design and color patterns.
