Bijay Moktan wins Golf title

Major Bijay Moktan has won Carlsberg Golf Classic 2005 tournament defeating ace amateur golfer CB Bhandari in a two-day match held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) today.

With this victory, Moktan will get to represent Nepal in the Malaysian Open ProAm Event 2006 to be held in Malaysia.

Likewise, Bhandari gets a two-way ticket to Pokhara, two-night stay at Hotel Shangrila Resort, Pokhara and one-day play at Himalayan Golf Course, Pokhara.

Similarly, Major MC Gurung, aged 67 won the seniors’ title while Major Dal Bahadur Gurung, aged 82, stood first in super seniors’ category. Likewise, Pushpa Rai won the ladies’ title edging ladies’ captain of RNGC Shastika Shrestha.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Niraj Pun won for the best front nine, Major Milan Gurung won the title in best second Nine, Narnedra Kumar Rai won for the most birdies and Chun Bahadur Bhandari won for the longest drive. Tashi Ghale, Captain Machindra Bahadur Ghale and Jamling Ghale won the titles in closest to pin, lucky fifteen and body winner respectively.

The Danish Ambassador to Nepal, Finn Thilsted and director of Gorkha Brewery Rajendra Khetan gave away the trophies and gift hampers to the winners amidst a program at the RNGC.

Eighty golfers including eight women had participated in the tournament.
