Security forces shot dead at least 11 Maoists in operations in different parts of the kingdom as rebels murdered two soldiers, the Defence Ministry and other reports said Wednesday.
The Army shot dead four insurgents in Doti, Rukum and Banke districts after being attacked during searches, the Defence Ministry said. Five rebels were killed in Kanchanpur last Wednesday while trying to free an abducted soldier, the Ministry said.
Two Maoists were killed in Khotang Wednesday in a clash between security forces and rebels that began at 9 AM, the Ministry said. The army recovered Rs.85,865 in Nepali currency and Rs.4,650 in
Indian currency in Sindhuli during a search Tuesday.
Security forces have launched a massive manhunt for rebels who murdered two soldiers in Rukum Tuesday, an official statement said. The army rescued an abducted policeman in Taplejung last Wednesday, the Ministry said.
Maoists Monday abducted an armed policeman Om Bahadur Shah who had returned home in Kavre from Dang, local officials said. Eleven soldiers were injured, some seriously, when a truck carrying
them slid down a sloping road near Bidur in Nuwakot Wednesday, local security officials said.
A group of Maoists Wednesday evening shot dead Lek Mohamad at Rajpur in Rautahat, police said.
