Kathmandu, Apr. 5 : An anti-tobacco campaign was organised today at Baghabhairav area of Kirtipur Municipality amidst a variety of programmes such as rally, public awareness drive and a street play “Yamaraj”.
Minister of State for Health Tirtha Ram Dangol, the chief guest at the programme, said he had given up smoking for good thanks to the anti-smoking drive.
Every one should give up smoking and help other to follow suit, he added.
Speaking from the chair, national president of Nepal Jaycees Phul Kumar Lalbani said that women should come forward to give up bad habit like smoking.
Represemtative of the His Majesty’s Government health education, Information and Communications Centre Uttam, Ratna Shakya, chairman of Kathmandu district sports development committee Chandra Vinod Chalise, programme convenor Naveen Tamrakar and Kirtipur Jaycees chairman Ravindra Pradhan also expressed their views at the programme.
The function was organised by Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation with the active participation of Nepal Jaycees, Kathmandu Sports Development committee and Kirtipur jaycees.
At the programme, marathon runner Baikuntha Manandhar handed over the flame of the anti-tobacco campaign to Minister of State Dangol.
