KATHMANDU: The Maoists have said that Tanka Bahadur Moktan, the abducted judge of the Jhapa District Court, is safe in their captivity and will be released soon.

Latest reports quoting Jhapa district in-charge of the CPN (Maoist), Kausal, said that Moktan has been kept ‘respectfully’ and that the process to release him was underway.

On Friday, four armed Maoists had abducted Moktan from his home in Ilam’s Jirmale along with two of his helpers. He had gone to Ilam before moving to Kathmandu where he has been transferred.

Moktan’s family members, the Nepal Bar Association and various human rights groups have called on the Maoists to release him immediately and unconditionally.
