Kathmandu, May 16: On the occasion of the 7th Madan-Ashrit memorial day, the Madan-Ashrit Memorial Foundation organized various programs to remember and honour late leaders Madan Bhandari and Jiv Raj Ashrit here today.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lower House of parliament and General Secretary of CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal released two cassettes containing songs written by late Madan Bhandari. He also released the magazine ‘Barga Sangarsh’, a mouthpiece of CPN (UML) party at the function.
Party General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal is the chief editor of the magazine while central committee member Pradip Nepal along with Agnisheekha and Rajendra Gautam are members of the editorial board. ‘Bargasangarsh’ had been published from 2032 B.S but was discontinued since 2043 B.S
Speaking as chief guest, party General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said that in order to clear the party’s line on various issues, the magazine would facilitate immensely. Urging the party cadre to build the habit of reading and studying, Nepal recalled the remarks made by late Bhandari that of ‘being different from the workers of other parties’.
MP and Member of the Central Committee Ishwar Pokherel said that we should learn from the sacrfices made by the late leaders in order to change grief into strength.
Speaking from the chair former MP and member of the central committee Krishna Gopal Shrestha said that late Madan Bhandari gave innovative thoughts to the communist movement of Nepal and his nationalistic approach has inspired everyone even till this day. A blood donation programme was also organized by the Foundation here this morning.
