Kathmandu, Dec. 31 ): The Home Ministry has issued a statement her today appealing to the Bandh organizers to withdraw their Bandh programme scheduled for Jan. 1 and 2.

Since bandh programmes instigate violence and vandalism the government has to use force to keep the situation under control and protect life and property of the people, and take strict legal action against those involved in the violence, the Home Ministry said, adding it would be wise of the Bandh organizers to help avoid such untoward incidents by withdrawing their programme.

Stating that at a time when life was becoming normal following the recent Valley Bandh and the violence that took place during the bandh, the group of nine leftist parties has announced another Bandh programme, the Home Ministry said Bandh programmes badly affect the social and economic life, make the life of daily wage earners still harder and undermines individual freedom of the people.

The present government is ever ready to find a solution to any problem through dialogue, it said, adding in such a situation it is not reasonable on the part of political parties to impose hardship on public life by organizing Bandh programmes.

Stating that security forces have been mobilized round the clock to ensure peace and security, the Home Ministry has asked all the people to inform security personnel and nearby police units, if they need any security.

Those who need security can contact at telephone no 100, 110 and 120 at police control room, and at telephone No. 226044 and 225698 at the control room in the Home Ministry, according to the Home Ministry. Likewise, in the districts, the CDO office, the district police office and any nearby police unit can be contacted, whenever one needs security.
