The women began their rally from Lainchour, marching past Thamel, Ason and Indra Chowk. Carrying empty water vessels in their hands and waving banners, they chanted slogans against the RCCC verdict and demanded that Deuba and Singh be released at once. The rally had converged into a mass meeting at Indra Chowk.
Unlike earlier protests, no arrests were made during the rally.
The NC (D) and six other political parties that have been waging a movement against the Feb 1 royal move have intensified their protests following the RCCC verdict handing down two-year jail term and heavy fine to Deuba and Singh and four others for corruption in the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
