The part-time teachers at the Tribhuvan University Monday announced their 9th phase of protest programs demanding better pay and job security.
Organising a press conference today, the Tribhuvan University Partial Teachers’ Association declared that there would be no letup until the TU administration increased the salaries of the part-timers along with other facilities.
The new phase of protests will begin from July 4 with a sit-in program in front of the offices of the principals of TU campuses across the country.
“Alongside, interaction programs will be conducted involving political leaders, human rights activists and the civil society,” Nanda Kishwor Singh, chairman of the association, said.
Similarly, on July 10, a demonstration will be staged at Ratna Park. “We will launch a fast-onto-death if our demands are not met till then,” the teachers said.
Over 2,300 TU part-time teachers, working with a pittance of Rs 60 per period, have been carrying out regular protests for the last 15 months.
