Switzerland gives Nepal a Rs156.35 million grant

The Swiss government has agreed to provide Rs.156.35 million in grant  assistance to Nepal to implement the third phase of community health programme in Ramechhap and Dolkha districts.

An agreement to this effect was signed between the officials of His Majesty’s Government and the Swiss government in the Ministry of Finance Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the grant assistance would be utilized to enhance the skill and efficiency of community health workers and ensure improved and better health care facilities to the local people of Dolkha and Ramechhap, according to a press release of the Finance Ministry.

The amount would cover a period of fours years until July 2005. The Swiss government has been providing assistance for community health programme and income generating activities for women in these two districts since 1992.
