A man killed his wife, three daughters and a son and later killed himself in a remote village of Khotang district at dawn Sunday, police said.

Nanda Bahadur Rai of Buipa village of Khotang district killed his wife and four children with a khukuri when they were sleeping at about 4 am Sunday, according to police. Later Rai committed suicide by hanging from a tree in his own village. According to police, Rai had a mental problem.

After receiving information of the incident, a team of police has been dispatched to Buipa village from district headquarters of Khotang. Other details are not available.
