Spread of flu in Bhutanese refugee camp controlled

The spread of viral flu in the Beldangi Bhutanese refugee camp has been brought under control after additional health workers were deployed to the health centres.

The Annapurna Post, quoting personnel in one of these health camps, said the number of incoming patients has gone down from about fifteen people per day to four people per day.

Similarly, Hutraj Pant, chief of Beldangi-1 health centre, said that there have been no influenza related deaths in the pasts two days. He added that number of incoming patients has gone down from 200 a day to 50 a day.

Tika Ram Aryal, Chief District Officer of the Jhapa district, also reiterated that the situation has improved and added that a medical team is expected to come from Kathmandu to help out.
