The 11the General Convention of the Nepali Congress kicked off in Lalitpur Tuesday amid huge presence of party workers, leaders of agitating parties and representatives of political parties aboard.
Party president Girija Prasad Koriala inaugurated the four-day convention at the Jawalakhel Sports Ground this afternoon.
Addressing the inaugural function, leaders of seven-party alliance said that end of ‘autocratic’ royal regime and establishment of ‘total democracy’ had become their common goal.
Representatives of political parties of India and Switzerland also addressed the inaugural function, stressing that multiparty democracy should be restored in Nepal at the earliest.
