Maoists injure two security men in Jhapa

Maoist insurgents shot and severely injured two policemen at Damak municipality of eastern Jhapa district, Saturday.

According to reports on Sunday, two Maoists shot the policemen at around 4 p.m. when they were entering a highway hotel for a cup of tea.

The injured police constables, identified as Tilak Shrestha and Krishna Shrestha from eastern Bhojpur district, are undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

In a separate incident, eight people were injured when they clashed with armed Indian dacoits at the Nepali side of Nepal-India border of Sunsari district, Friday night.

Nepal and Indian police are jointly carrying out a search operation against the dacoits, reports said.
