The Maoist rebels captured measles vaccine in Okhaldhunga district on Saturday, reports said.
According to a front-page report published in Nepal Samacharpatra daily on Monday, the anti-measles supplies, which were being carried to Okhaldhunga from Udaypur, were captured by Maoists at Mane Bhanjyang VDC of Okhaldhunga district.
The supplies were being taken to Okhaldhunga for the government’s measles prevention drive scheduled across the country from 21 September.
According to the Ministry, the campaign divided into three phases, have total resources of US$ 6.2 million. A total of 1,000,000 children from nine months to 15 years will be immunized against measles.
The campaign, which is, regarded the first of its kind in the SAARC region, is supported by World Health Organization and UNICEF. nepalnews.com pd Sep 13 04
