KATHMANDU: Indian foreign minister K Natwar Singh returned to India, winding up a two-day visit Saturday afternoon. Singh had arrived here on Friday.
High-ranking officials of the Nepalese foreign ministry and the Indian embassy saw him off at Tribhuvan International Airport at 2 pm.
Singh met Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala at his residence at Maharajgunj this morning. Talking to the press after the meeting, Singh said issues of bilateral interest and the current political situation were discussed.
Likewise, he also held separate discussions with former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana at the Indian embassy just before returning to India.
On Friday, Singh received an audience from the King and held discussions with prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML general secretary Madhav Nepal.
