A special meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI)- umbrella organization of Nepali business community- has condemned the recent attacks on the private sector.
According to reports, the meeting decided to form a high-level committee led by the FNCCI to take initiative for the resolution of the prevailing conflict and also to demand the government provide security to the industrial units, reports said.
The meeting also decided to hold a national meeting of the chambers of commerce and industries making the establishment of peace a national agenda.
Last week, Maoists attacked the Jyoti Spinning Mills destroying property worth tens of millions rupees. Property of Jyoti group-the largest business house in Nepal-the mill provided employment to nearly 2,000 people.
Earlier, six industries, including Unilever Nepal, suspended their operations citing security threats for an indefinite period. Unilever Nepal is one of the biggest Indian joint-venture industries in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICC) have separately expressed a serious concern over the attack at the Spinning Mills at Parwanipur, Parsa.
