Five Maoists killed in fresh operation

Five Maoist insurgents were killed in the latest security operations carried out in various parts of the country, reports citing Defense Ministry said Thursday.

According to the reports, four Maoist rebels were killed in retaliatory action by the security forces on Wednesday at Udipur area of Lamjung district. Arms and ammunitions were recovered from the battle site. A search operation was intensified in the area following the incident.

In Sunsari district, a Maoist insurgent- Kabindra Rai- was shot dead when he tried to escape custody at Fusera area of Sunsari on Wednesday.

In another incident, security forces, deployed for the security of the telecommunications tower in Jgbudha in the far western Dadeldhura district, foiled a Maoist attack Tuesday evening. Over 300 Maoist insurgents attacked the security forces deployed in the area, the reports said.
