KATHMANDU, Dec 1 – Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is preparing to initiate disciplinary action against Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, immediately after he arrives in the country Tuesday, a central committee member said. The Central Disciplinary Committee will hand over a letter on this regard to the PM seeking clarification Tuesday morning.

The dissident faction of the party, however, said the faction is all prepared to summon the national council meeting to challenge the action against the PM.

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, a confidant of PM Thapa, informed that the government-faction of the party would challenge the party decision.

Talking to The Kathmandu Post Assistant General Secretary of the RPP, Khem Raj Pandit, however, ruled out possibility of immediate action against the PM. “It is on process and may take sometimes.”

Meanwhile, party vice-chairman Padma Sundar Lawati said in Itahari that the party could not give excessive concession to the government simply on the ground that the party would split.

Claiming failure of the government to solve the problem in all fronts, he urged Thapa to step down.
