Local administration in the eastern district of Jhapa has lifted curfew at Anarmani, Birtamod in the district for one hour Thursday morning but situation remains tense.
The local administration has lifted curfew between 7:00 AM and 8 AM only, authorities said.
Talking to Nepalnews over telephone early Thursday, a local resident said that situation remained tense and people were afraid to come out of their houses.
The local administration had imposed curfew in the town from Wednesday afternoon after an unruly, angry mob vandalized offices of local manpower agencies and targeted a minority community and vandalized their places of worship.
Birtamod is a major business center of Mechi zone. A large number of people from across the border in India visit this town for shopping.
