The Maoists will not back off from the ceasefire, even though the talks fail, published reports said Sunday quoting Maoist chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda.

Prachanda said this in a telephonic conversation with Amik Sherchan, president of People’s Front Nepal, reports said.

Sherchan speaking in a program Saturday said Prachanda sees constituent assembly as the only solution to the present impasse. “In fact, constituent assembly is the bottom line of the Maoists,” Sherchan said quoting Prachanda, as saying.

On government’s agenda presented during the third round of peace talks, Prachanda was of the view that the agenda is no more helpful to address the Maoists’ demand.
