KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Monday issued treasury bills worth Rs 2 billion, a report in The Rising Nepal has said.
According to the report, the Public Debt Management Department under the central bank issued the 91-day Treasury bills in order to obtain internal debt on behalf of the government.
The NRB sold the 91-day Treasury bills worth Rs 2 billion through an action.
KATHMANDU: Republica daily has reported that the top-notch leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) agreed to take a final call on the merger of party committees in consultation with the members of the party unification task-force.
The decision has come at a time while a growing rift between Chairpersons KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal is hindering the remaining works of party unification, says the report.
NCP’s secretariat meeting held in Baluwatar on Monday did not strike a deal on the party committees’ unification.

KATHMANDU: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) on Monday responded to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, saying that the watchdog can investigate Raj Narayan Pathak, the CIAA commissioner, a report in The Kathmandu Post said.
The apex advisory body to the government gave the CIAA the go-ahead, clearing its dilemma whether to initiate investigations into CIAA commissioner Pathak.
Pathak had resigned on Friday to dodge impeachment over allegations of a multi-million rupee bribery scandal.
KATHMANDU: The government doctors have warned that they would boycott work and tender resignation in mass if the government did not review the recently introduced civil servants adjustment process, reported Republica daily.
The agitating doctors, who are unhappy with the civil servants adjustment process, have rejected a government plan to put them under provincial and local governments.
They have been demanding that the Civil Servants Adjustment Bill be revised to replace them under the federal government, said the report.
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Post has reported that the international academics have been concerned over inaction in sexual harassment allegations leveled against retired Tribhuvan University lecturer Krishna Bhattachan.
Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Britain-Nepal Academic Council (BNAC) said, “We are deeply concerned to hear about the lack of any investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct leveled against Bhattachan, a leading retired academic, in TU.”
The allegations against Bhattachan ranged from making lewd remarks to inappropriately touching them during advisory sessions at his residence, according to the report.
KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress has lashed out at the government saying that it betrayed the Nepali citizens by not arresting the culprit involved in the rape-and-murder of the Nirmala case, reported Annapurna daily.

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition have suggested that a massive discussion be held prior to the endorsement of the Land Use Bill, a report in the The Himalayan Times said.
In a meeting of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resource Committee, they demanded that the bill be discussed in the presence of line minister, secretary and experts.
The panel’s Chairperson Purna Kumari Subedi assured lawmakers that the bill would be rigorously discussed with the concerned stakeholders.
