18 held in connection with bomb explosions Published on: February 24, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nagarik daily has prioritized the arrest of the suspects in connection with the bomb explosion in front of the Ncell tower in Bhaisepati and birthday celebration of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Police rounded up as many as 18 individuals in the course of investigation into a serious of bomb explosions detonated in front of Ncell towers installed in various places including Bhainsepati on Friday evening.

According to police spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi, a total of 18 cadres of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand have been arrested.

The daily has highlighted the birthday celebration of Prime Minister Oli. He marked his 68th birthday by planting a mango sapling on the premises of the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, says the report.

 

 

 

Govt to amend proposed administrative bill Published on: February 24, 2019

KATHMANDU: Rajdhani daily has highlighted issues related to  the proposed administrative and Tanahun road accident in today’s edition.

According to the report, the government has decided to amend the proposed bill on Federal Service Commission saying that it is against the federal set-up.

The Office of the Prime Minister and  Council of Ministers took a decision to this effect in coordination with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

New IT bill seeks to control social media Published on: February 23, 2019

The government’s proposed new bill on IT passed by the House of Representatives for discussion yesterday authorizes the government to control the use of social media and its contents, writes Kantipur daily. This bill proposes that those wishing to use social media are required to get registered at the Department of Information Technology. The paper also writes that total 150 ropani government land got registered under the name of Hayat Hotel due to a wrong decision taken by Taragaun Development Committee.

206 Nepalis languishing in Malasyan jails Published on: February 23, 2019

Total 206 Nepali migrant workers are languishing at various jails in Malasiya, writes Nagarik daily on its front page. They are in jail due to illegal status or on charges of misconduct.

The paper also writes that India is constructing a dam unilaterally near the boarder in Kailali district. Around 1,300 families at Kailari Gunpalika are fearing inundation in monsoon because of the dam under construction.

Mushrooming educational consultancies are extorting a huge amount of money from students vying for abroad studies, writes Rajdhani daily on its front page. The news reports that a consultancy charges upto two million rupees from a nursing student.

Similarly, the newspaper also writes that government is losing a huge amount of money as contractors of development projects are going missing. Contractors of various development projects received around 24 billion rupees from the government as advance payment. However, they are going missing and the government is reluctant to take action against them.

KATHMANDU: Nagarik daily has prioritized the issues related to registration of social networking sties and the disputes of the ruling Nepal Communist Party in today’s newspaper.

Briefing journalist about the cabinet decisions on Thursday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota underlined the need to register all forms of social networking sites. They should be brought under the purview of the government to curb cyber crimes.

Similarly, NCP leaders have been expressing dissatisfaction saying that the unification at the district and local levels has been facing stalemate due to the wrangling between chairmen Oli and Dahal. CIAA Chief dissatisfied with PAC’s letter Published on: February 22, 2019

KATHMANDU: Annapurna Post has highlighted disputes taking place in the unification taskforce of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and CIAA Chief’s objection to the letter sent by Parliamentary Public Account Committee (PAC).

The parliamentary committee had sent a letter to the CIAA ordering the anti-graft body to investigate the wide-body aircraft procurement case involving the embezzlement of around 4 billion rupees.

However, the CIAA Chief Nabin Ghimire expressed discontent over the letter saying that its style undermined the dignity of the constitutional body.
