India’s EC halts Narendra Modi film Published on: April 11, 2019

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India has ‘halted’ the release of a controversial film about the life of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of the first day of voting, India media reported.

The movie PM Narendra Modi was set to be released in cinemas on Thursday, the day when Indians started voting in 91 seats throughout the country.

Opposition parties have been arguing that the film would “affect” the elections, since it has been made as a political advertisement.

They had earlier demanded that the movie should be banned until after the last phase of voting on 19 May.

India’s election commission announced the deferral of the film until after the polls. (Agencies)

12 Nepali films to receive ‘Blockbuster Award 2075’ Published on: April 10, 2019

KATHMANDU: Box Office Film Club Nepal has decided to honor 12 Nepali films with ‘Blockbuster Award 2075’.

Even though very few Nepali films released this year gained success, Film Club Nepal has chosen as many as 12 films for the award.

According to RK Subedi of Box Office Nepal, Nepali films Lily Bily, Chhakka Panja,-3, Jaya Bhole, Bobby, Nai Nabhannu La 5, Kayara, Bhaire, Intu Mintu Londonma, Changachet, Ramkahani, Prasad and Captain have been picked for the blockbuster award.

‘Captain Marvel’ crosses USD 1 billion milestone Published on: April 5, 2019

LOS ANGELES: ‘Captain Marvel’ has crossed the USD 1 billion milestone at the global box office, media report said.

The Brie Larson-starrer, an origin story of Marvel superhero of the same name, raked in over USD 358 million in the US, while in the international territories, it amassed USD 645 million, Walt Disney, Marvel Studios’ parent company, shared in a press release.

 

 

Nepali movie ‘Love Station’ hits screens Published on: April 5, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepali cine film ‘Love Station’ has hit the screens nationwide from Friday. Directed by Ujjwal Ghimire, the movie features popular cine artists Pradeep Khadka and Jasita Gurung in the lead roles.

The movie revolves round the love between Khadka and Gurung. Khadka has been presented as love teacher in the move.

Set in various places of Nepal including those surrounding Darjeeling, the movie has been made under the banner of Kafiya Films Pvt. Ltd.

Subas Singh Basnet is the script writer while Govinda Shahi, Kishu Shahi and Kabir Bikram are the producers of the film.

Similarly, Ramesh Budhathoki, Siru Bista, Rabi Dangol, Priya Rijal, Prakash Shah, Dinesh Kafle among others have performed in the Love Station.

 

 

 

Human rights int’l film festival kicks off today Published on: April 4, 2019

KATHMANDU: The 7th edition of human rights international film festival is kicking off today in the capital.

In the opening of the festival, the film “The March of Hope” will be screened. The German-based film is jointly directed by Jim Kroft and Bastian Fischer. Human Rights Film Center (HRFC) is organizing the event at Russian Center of Science and Culture, Kamal Pokhari.

Similarly, about 80 films from 33 different countries will be screened on the 4-day festival. The theme of this festival for this edition is “Migration”.

“There will be three panel discussions during the festival on the theme of migration, issues of marginalized minorities and film funding in Nepal,” Anup Subedi, president of Nepal Independent Filmmakers’ Society, told Khabarhub.

 

 

Farah Khan’s big-budget film in the offing Published on: April 3, 2019

MUMBAI: Indian filmmaker Farah Khan’s upcoming film will be the remake of a much-liked Hindi film, Khan has releaved.

Rohit Shetty’s new film will be directed by Farah.

Farah Khan said they are ‘extremely excited’ for the collaboration, and are making a big, massive Bollywood musical, Indian media has reported.

According to Rohit, they are giving final touches to the script.

Dabangg 3 title song will 500 background dancers Published on: April 2, 2019

Indian actor Salman Khan has started shooting of Dabangg 3 in Indore. The film is said to have a grand set.

Media reports said that the title track of the film will be shot on a massive scale, and see over 500 back dancers.

The song, reports said, will be followed by an action sequence between Salman and Arbaaz Khan.

The film will have two different time periods. While one time period will show the flashback, revealing the backstory of Chulbul, the backstory will portray Salman as a local goon, however, with a good heart. Likewise, the current time period will show Salman as a brave cop.

The film stars Sonakshi Sinha, and is directed by Prabhu Deva. (Agencies)

KATHMANDU: A new song from actor Anmol KC starrer movie ‘A Mero Hajur 3’ has been released. The song titled ‘Paran’ was released through the official channel of Budha Subba Digital on Friday.

The song has been sung by Ashish Abiral and Anju Panta. The melodious song has been penned down by Ananda Adhikari. The song has been composed by Ashish Abiral itself.

The song features actor Anmol KC and actress Suhana KC. The film will hit the theaters on April 12.

 

 

‘Mle Kyu’ to be screened in the Nepali New Year Published on: March 17, 2019

POKHARA: Mle Kyu, a film in Tamu language  is to be screened in Pokhara in the New Nepali Year 2076. The meaning of the film ‘Mle Kyu’ is Forgetful wWter, directed by Jasu Gurung. It is scheduled to be screen on Baisakh 7.

DB Gurung, Ronit Gurung, Kristi Gurung, Kamal Gurung feature in the lead role of the film. The story of the film is written by Roshan Gurung while Maotse Gurung has written the screenplay with Riya Gurung.

The film makes an effort to highlight various aspects of death rituals of Tamu community, according to director Jasu Gurung.

The film is being screened at Bindabasini Film Hall in Pokhara, with two shows—at 12:00 and 15:00 hrs. The first premier of the film was held in Hong Kong, China on March 3.
