The youngest quadruplet died at the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara Sunday morning at 5.30 PM six days after birth, hospital sources said.

The male infants were born prematurely and were underweight. Rita Thapa delivered the first child at home near Pokhara Sunday and then gave birth to three others at Western Regional Hospital after developing complications at home.

The quadruplets were shifted to Manipal Teaching Hospital from the Western Regional Hospital where an incubator was mal-functioning. The mother and the newborns were reunited at Manipal Teaching Hospital Saturday.

The youngest child was only 1.36 kgs. The surviving infants are not yet out of danger, doctors said.
