A senior Maoist leader has accused Indian Prime Minister of delaying the fruitful peace talks in the country. According to Rajdhani daily, Matrika Yadav – chairman of Maoists’ Madhesi National Liberation Front (MNLF) – said that Indian authorities have brought down pressure upon Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala resulting in the delay in the fruitful talks.
Yadav, addressing the first convention of MNLF in Bhairahawa on Wednesday, said, “The key of the talks is in the hands of Indian PM.” He further revealed that Maoist chairman Prachanda had recently met with the Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee to untie the knot.
The daily quotes Yadav as telling journalists after the convention that the government-Maoist talks would post a psychological victory after the Indian PM uses the key to open the talks in Nepal.
Accusing Indian government of frequently interfering in Nepal’s internal affairs, Yadav said, “The capitalists from all over the world have gathered in New Delhi to make Maoists unsuccessful.” He further accused that US ambassador James Moriarty, too, had recently visited New Delhi with the same purpose.
Yadav also accused Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala as being ‘a pawn in the hands of India.’ “The Congress agrees during the talks (with Maoists) but it changes its tone after talking with India,” he claimed.
Yadav’s accusations come in the wake of similar allegations were made by president of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Narayan Man Bijukchhe who had said a week ago that “key for talks is stuck in New Delhi.” Bijukchhe’s party is a member of ruling Seven Party Alliance.
