World Bank official meets Acharya

Kathmandu, June 7 : World Bank vice president and controller Jules Muis paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Mahesh Acharya at the latter’s office today.

On the occasion, discussions were held on the fiscal reform programme, public accounts and auditing.

Country director of the World Bank Hans Rothanbuhler and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the office-bearers of the Federation of Neapalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the chairmen and co-chairmen of various committees under the federation led by FNCCI second vice president Diwakar Golchha met Finance Minister Mahesh Acharya today to apprise him of the problems caused by the budget for the fiscal year 2000/01 to the country’s economy including the trade and industry sector.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Acharya said the government is committed to removing procedural hassles.

He also assured the FNCCI delegation that the government will take immediate measures to discuss the problems with FNCCI and resolve them by taking into consideration of the federation’s suggestions.
