Rajbiraj, June 10: The Ilaka Police Office, Kanchanpur has arrested Gyanu Dhimal, a resident of Dangihat VDC-5, Morang district, on the charge of women trafficking.
It is learnt that Dhimal and Santosh Giri of Chisapani VDC, Khotang district, took two girls to a brothel in Bombay, India on the pretext of marrying them.
The two hatched a plan and took away 20-year-old Kalpana Darji, daughter of Ram Kumar Darji, a resident of Saptari district Fattehapur VDC-3 and his niece Sharmila Darji, a resident of Kakarbhitta-7, Jhapa district, who had been staying at the house in December last year in the pretext of marrying the girls.
Dhimal has confessed to the police that Giri had given him Rs 2,500 and a t-shirt in Itahari on way to Bombay and assured him that he would make the rest of the payment after taking the girls to Bombay.
A man known to Sharmila had told her father about the fate of his daughter and Dhimal was arrested after Sharmila’s father lodged a complaint against him. Dhimal was arrested from his house.
Police said a search is underway to track the other accomplice in the crime, Santosh Giri.
Meanwhile, a group of about ten bandits is learnt to have looted valuable property and cash worth Rs 150,000 from the house of Suryakant Gupta at Shambhunath VDC-3 in Saptari district recently, according to the district police office, Saptari.
