Kathmandu, Oct.16: Managers have misappropriated grains donated by the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to construct a road in Sindhupalchowk district under a work for food programme, the daily newspaper Gorkhapatra said Monday.
Twenty-seven persons including the four members of a consumer group lodged a complaint to the Chief District Officer Bhanubkahta Pokhrel who is reported to have said,” Workers have lodged a complaint. Investigations are on-going.”
The WFP had provided 4,200 sacks of grain for the construction of the Chautara-Malumchi road to the district development committee; the grains had later been collected by the chief of the consumer group, Bharat Kumar Bharati, the newspaper said.
Workers alleged they had not been paid for their work for two years.
