A three-day national campaign to administer vitamin A capsules to 3.15 million children under five again started in 73 of the kingdom’s 75 administrative districts Thursday morning.
The Maoist affected district of Rolpa was included in this year’s campaign and will later be extended to the insurgency hit districts of Rukum and Jajarkot. Altogether 40,800 women volunteers have been mobilized for the national effort to save the lives of children.
The eight year campaign has helped reduce child mortality and prevent blindness. The campaign is conducted twice a year in April and October.
