Utsav-2005 kicks off

The annual Kathmandu Utsav (festival) 2005, kicked off at the Bhrikuti Mandap on Thursday.

President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandi Raj Dhakal, and representatives of leading media houses jointly inaugurated the 10-day long mega consumer fair being organised by Everest Events and Exhibition Private Limited (EEEPL).

A wide variety of consumer goods – from fashion wear, household appliances to hi-tech electronics – are on display in 160 different stalls.

Talking to Nepalnews, Sanjeev Pyakural, executive director of EEEPL said,” This type of fair provides facilities to customers to choose a wide variety of goods under one roof”.

He further added, “This year we have added extra events as compared to that of previous years like public voting on the basis of which the best musical band of the year will be nominated and the winning band will be awarded with a cash prize Rs 50,000. Similarly, best male model and best female model will receive cash prize Rs 15, 000 each”.

The exhibition will run until 8th October. The EEEPL has been organizing the fair annually since 1995.
