Unesco role apreciated

Kathmandu, Jan. 29: Minister for Supplies Prakash Man Singh has said that the ideals and principles of the School Cooperation Council affiliated with  the unesco should be forwarded through schools.

Minister Singh said this while speaking at the concluding function of the second convention of the School Cooperation Council affiliated with the unesco  here today and added that the unesco can play a key role in the consolidation of  democracy.

Former ambassador Keshav Raj Jha said the council which has the objective of raising the society through education and developing a sense of peace in the mind will play a important role in the strengthening of relations between the Nepal and the unesco.

From the chair newly elected council chairman Ramesh Gautam said cooperation from all is expected to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Former chairman of the council and   former vice chairman Manorama Rana also shed light on the activities of the council

On the occasion newly elected chairman Ramesh Gautam informed about the formation of the 15 member council.

The vice chairman of the executive committee is Bhola Thapaliya, Rajesh Khadka, Sulochana Sapkota, general secretary is Baburam Pokhrel, secretary Laxmi Kishor Subedi, treasurer Umesh Shrestha, and co- treasurer Bijaya Laxmi Shrestha.

Similarly the unopposed elected members are Sangita Shrestha, Sundar Pant, Sanu Kumari, Indu Kafle, Meghraj Khadka, Bhagwati Pokhrel. And Arjun Prasad Gautam.

The council holds a election every four years.

It was informed on the occasion that presently there are 65 schools as the members of the council.
