Top leaders of the CPN (UML), Nepali Congress (Democratic) and CPN (Maoist) held a meeting on Saturday morning and discussed the agendas for the upcoming summit meeting.
Talking to reporters after the Chairman of the Maoists Prachanda told journalists after the meeting that the three parties discussed various issues concerning the ongoing peace process. He further said it was a part of the preparation for summit talks between the seven parties and the Maoists, which could probably be held on Thursday.
The meeting was organised at the residence of UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal in Koteshwor, Kathmandu. Apart from Maoist chairman Prachanda, UML general secretary Nepal and NC (D) president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, UML leaders Jhalanath Khanal, Amrit Kumar Bohora, Ishor Pokharel and Bharat Mohan Adhikari, NC (D) leaders Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat were also present at the meeting.
They also discussed the management of the Maoist army and arms, interim constitution, interim government and the process of the election to constituent assembly.
Sources meanwhile said the three parties also agreed, theoretically, to decide the fate of monarchy through referendum, which will be held simultaneously or just before the election to constituent assembly.
UML general secretary Nepal said the agendas discussed during the meeting would be finalised during the meeting of the seven parties to be held before the summit talks. The meeting of the seven-party alliance is expected to be held on Monday.
