Kathmandu: A delegation of the Indian Communist Party (CPI), led by its General Secretary A.B. Bardhan, met with General Secretary of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal and other UML leaders in Kathmandu. The delegates of the two parties held discussions on June 4 and 5. The CPI delegation is on a goodwill visit from June 3 to 6.
According to the UML, during the talks both the parties noted with satisfaction the existing friendly relations between them and agreed to strengthen it further.
The two parties shared their views on various topics and reached understanding on issues.
A joint communique of the two parties said both the parties take Marxism-Leninism as their guideline to action and to apply the general principle of Marxism-Leninism creatively and independently. It said both the parties are fighting for a new, just, democratic, socialist and peaceful society free of all kinds of exploitation, oppression and discrimination.
It said both the parties oppose imperliasm, hegemonism and aggression, use of force and power politics and big power interferences in the internal affairs of others. It said both UML and CPI oppose extremism in all hues, and fanaticism and intolerance.
