U-17 Asia Cup Cricket: Nepal into semifinals

Nepal has entered the semifinals of the Under-17 Asia Cup Cricket by beating host Malaysia by 9 runs Wednesday.

Batting first, Nepal amassed 141 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 45 overs. In reply, hosts Malaysia could only muster 132 runs in 43.5 overs.

Nepal qualified for the quarterfinals as the second placed team from Group ‘C’. They were awarded the top spot in the Group, after the winner of the Group, Afghanistan, was disqualified for fielding 5 overage players.

Nepal was to play Group ‘B’ winner Singapore in the quarterfinals, but by moving to the top of Group ‘C’, they played today’s match against Group ‘D’ runner up Malaysia.

In the Group stages, Nepal was beaten by Afghanistan on Friday but thrashed Brunei by 10 wickets on Saturday

Nepal will play Kuwait in the semifinals tomorrow. The other semifinal pits Singapore against Bahrain.
