Two Spanish climbers were swept away by an avalanche while attempting the Mt Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest peak in the world, two days earlier.

Santiago Sagaste, who was leading the six-member Spanish team ‘Club Exea Dhaulagiri Expedition’, and another climber, Ricardo Valencia , went missing after the avalanche struck their camp on Sunday, reports said.

Another Spanish claimer, Javi Serrano, and an Austrian, Gerlinde Kaltenbruner, escaped the avalanche unhurt while two other team members were unhurt as they were in another camp below.

Two weeks earlier, an Italian climber had died in an avalanche while trying to scale the 8,167-metre peak.
