Two policemen shot dead in Maoist attack

Around twenty-five armed Maoist terrorists who stormed the police post at Madhuban market in Haraiya VDC of Bara district in mid-eastern Nepal Saturday afternoon shot dead two policemen before fleeing the scene, Radio Nepal reported.

The Maoists used 200 locals in the form of human shields while attacking the police post manned by only nine policemen. The police post has been completely destroyed after the attack.

Those shot dead in the attack were police constable Anwar Hwak and police jawan Mangal Bahadur Sunwar. Of the nine policemen who were deployed at the post, seven are in contact with the Bara district police office.
