Two women have succumbed to the cold in eastern Bara district.
According to reports, 60-year old Sahodari Devi Shah of Madhuvan village development committee died this morning due to the cold wave.
Similarly, 28-year old Sushila Khatun of Haraiya village development committee died last night. She died while undergoing treatment at Area Health Post Madhuvan.
With these two deaths, the death toll due to cold wave in this winter has reached 11.
At least six persons died in Siraha and Bara districts as a severe cold wave gripped the terai region the last few days.
Earlier on Sunday, three elderly men died due to cold in Rautahat district.
On Monday night, one Rukwati Shah, 65, of Belha VDC-7 and Umesh Yadav, 40, of Siraha Municipality-8 also died due to the cold.
Previously, 70-year-old Ramcharitar Kamati of Hanumannagar-5, Dhanushi Yadav, 65, of Khirauna-8, and Sadariya Devi Shah, 96, of Siraha Municipality-7 had died due to the cold spell.
Meanwhile, many patients affected by cold related complications have started visiting local hospitals in various districts of terai.
Schools in the region also saw low turn out of children due to extreme cold weather.
Flights from all the airports of the country have been affected due to the thick fog this morning.
