December 24, 2001 KATHMANDU: Two Maoiosts were killed overnight in search and cordon operations by the army in Kailali and Rukum districts, the Defence Ministry said Monday.
Twenty persons were overpowered, including one injured rebel, as they attempted to break a cordon in Rukum Sunday, the Ministry said. Nine armed rebels were arrested with guns, explosives and communist literature, police said. Altogether 24 suspects were arrested Sunday for questioning nation-wide, officials said.
Police Sunday recovered 100kgs of explosives and grains looted from locals hidden in a temple at another village in the district, a local official said.
