Two govt. staff killed, five soldiers hurt

Maoists Saturday shot dead two government employees in Rautahat, injuring five more soldiers in a roadside ambush in Bara-Parsa border area recently, reports said Sunday.

The dead have been identified as Krishna Prasad Dahal, a warden and Raju Rana, a peon, working at the district forest office in Chandra Nigahapur, Rautahat, the reports said.

In yet another incident, five soldiers of Rudradhoj Company were hurt in a Maoist-laid ambush along the Pathlaiya-Nijgadh section of the Mahendra Highway in the bordering areas of Bara and Parsa districts on Friday, the reports said.

The ambush was reportedly targeted at the vehicle carrying the army officials returning from a mobile service camp at Nijgadh of Bara, according to the reports.

The injured soldiers are receiving treatment at Narayani Regional Hospital in Birgunj, the reports said, quoting security sources.
