Two day conference of Indian Ambassadors underway

The two-day conference of the Indian Ambassadors working in the SAARC member countries began in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Indian Ambassadors based in all the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries including Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran are taking part in the conference.

At the conference, the Indian Ambassadors will apprise Foreign Secretary Saran of the state of affairs of the countries they are based in.

The conference is held every two years and the Kathmandu conference is the continuity of the same, official news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti quoted an official at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu as saying.

Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran, who is in Nepal to take part in the conference called on Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar on Sunday.

On the occasion, Indian Foreign Secretary Saran acquired information about the health condition of Prime Minister Koirala.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs of India Pankaj Saran and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee were present during the meeting.
