TU, MSU Council okay resolutions

Kathmandu, June 30: The 4th annual meeting of the Mahendra Sanskrit University Council was held here under the chairmanship of its Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Education Amod Prasad Upadhyaya.

The meeting endorsed the policy and programme of the university for the fiscal year 2057/58 and approved its estimated budget.

The meeting also adopted a resolution pertaining to the 30th Auspicious Birthday of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, wishing HRH the Crown Prince good health, long life and prosperity and offering heartfelt congratulations on this happy occasion.

It also adopted seven different resolutions including a resolution on an addition and amendment to the university regulations 2044 in accordance with the Relevent Act.

On the occasion, Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Education Upadhyaya said that the university, second in seniority, should be capable of attracting Nepalese society and its people.

He lauded the policy adopted by the university on the application of herbs and their development in future.

Vice Chancellor of the University Madhav Raj Gautam said that the university has modified its curriculum for Uttar Madhyama, Shastri and Acharya with a view to making them employment-oriented, practical and timely.

Matihani Sanskrit Campus Chief Kartikey Jha demanded commencement of Acharya level courses at the campus.

Prof. at Balmiki Campus Dr. Radhakrishna Mainali lamented that the university was not concerned towards developing religious aspects

The resolutions were presented by Vice Chancellor Madhav Raj Gautam, rector Babu Ram Sharma Pokharel and secretary Dr. Bhojraj Pant.

Meanwhile, the eighth general meeting of the Tribhuvan University Academic Council held at Kirtipur Memorial Building recently approved the resolution to be sent to the T.U. Assembly for conferring the title of honorary Ph. D. on Mr Nayan Raj Pant.

Rector Dr. Prem Raj Pant had tabled the resolution for conferring the honorary title on Mr Pant in recognition of his outstanding contribution to enhancing the prestige of Nepal in the international arena through his long commitment in spreading knowledge.

Likewise, the meeting endorsed the nomination of Prof. Ram Krishna Paudel of the Institute of Engineering to the vacant post of academic council standing committee.

The meeting also passed the resolutions concerning the decisions of the academic council standing committee and the annual report.

T.U. Vice-Chancellor Navin Prakash Jung Shaha had chaired the meeting.
