Musicians waving to the crowd at the ‘Sundar Shanta Nepal’ traveling peace concert show at Ghorahi, Dang, Thursday, Oct 20 05.
According to event manager nepa~laya, 20,000 plus people of different ages from different parts of the district turned up for the show held at the local District Development Committee (DDC) ground.
The crowd danced to the tunes of fast numbers like ‘Makhmali Cholo’ by Meera Rana, ‘Lali Gurans Ajambari’ by Kunti Moktan, ‘Ko Ho Tyo’ by Om Bikram Bista, ‘Nasalu Timro Ankhale’ by Jyoti Ghimire and songs by Acharya brothers Satya and Swaroop. Indira Jocy, one of the Masters of the Ceremony along with Brazesh Khanal, joined Om Bikram Bista in crooning ‘Ko Ho Tyo.’
Nepathya Band sang ‘Rato Ra Chandra Surya’, ‘Resham’ and ‘Tal Ko Pani’ to the delight of the fans, the organiser said. While singing ‘Gaon Gaon Bata Utha,’ Amrit Gurung said, “We all should not fight but reach to a consensus and live in harmony; one Nepali killed means one of our brother or sister killed, so let us all call for peace, make our country beautiful, peaceful and prosperous.”
The two hour long programme concluded with the closing song ‘Desh Hamro Yesto Hos, Jahan Kalaha Ko Naam Nahos’ sung by all the participating artists.
People gathered around the DDC ground in huge numbers long before the scheduled time of the concert. The presence of women, girls and school children was significant.
The price of tickets for the peace concert was fixed at Rs. 10 in order to ensure maximum participation. Separate entry and sitting arrangements were made for women and students, like in the previous shows. A large number of students in Dang received free passes to the concert.
The Traveling Peace Concert has already had two successful staging of the show in Birtamod of Jhapa on October 15 and in Hetauda, Makwanpur on October 17.
The Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Dang Branch and Saraswati Lower Secondary School, Bharatpur, Ghorai was the local co-host for the concert. The concert was broadcast live by local Swargadwari FM 102.8 MHZ.
‘Sundar Shanta Nepal’ is a traveling peace concert organized with the objective of entertaining the masses while also spreading the message of peace and amity and is organized by Himal Association and managed by event nepa~laya.
