The Election Commission (EC) has started two-day long orientation and training programme for the district election officers from central regions in order to expedite procedures for elections of the Constituent Assembly.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the training on Monday, Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Bhoj Raj Pokhrel urged all officers to carry out their responsibilities effectively to materialize national agenda of holding the election of the constituent assembly by mid June in a free and fair manner.
He also urged all election officers and staffs to be careful while collecting and updating voters’ name list and avoid unwanted controversies during the election.
Speaking at the same programme, Home Secretary Umesh Mainali said that there is no need to be worried about security situation for the election officials as the government would provide all kinds of support to them.
He also urged them to work at the local level in regular coordination with respective Chief District Officers.
Secretary at the Ministry of Local Development, Bhagbati Kumar Kafle said that the government would send necessary staffs and Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries at the concerned local bodies in time to collect voters’ name lists.
Kafle further informed that the government has delegated authority to the concerned Chief District Officers and Regional Administrators to mobilize local level civil servants while conducting elections.
