Six trade unions have warned that they would forcibly reopen closed industries related to their associations if the government failed to take initiatives to open those industries and businesses within 72 hours.
Issuing a press release on Sunday, the six trade unions -Nepal Tourism and Hotel Employees’ Association, Nepal Garment Workers’ Association, Nepal Carpet Workers Association, Nepal Transportation Workers Association and Nepal Factory Workers Association – have said that the closure of the industries and businesses had forced thousands of employees and their families go hungry.
The press communiqué has also accused ANFTU, the pro-Maoist trade union, for using the workers and employees as a weapon for their political objectives.
The trade unions have also called the concerned industrial organisations to be sensitive to the workers’ demands. nepalnews.com pd Sept 13 04
