KATHMANDU: Tourism arrivals will fall by another 23 percent in December after a 17 percent fall in November, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board said Wednesday. “After the September 11 terror attacks in the USA, a major drop in arrivals was recorded after some improvements,” he said.
Government is mulling relief measures like re-scheduling of loans for the industry and reducing costs related to travel, he said. Altogether 24,515 tourists visited Nepal in November. ”Tourists have never been targets of any violence.
Extra measures adopted for security has provided better situation of law and order in Nepal after November 26,” the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said. Arrivals from China now standing at 1.27 percent of the total inflow will jump after China listed Nepal this year as a tourist destination for its nationals, the NTB said.
